Rules regarding withdrawal of Newbridge Town in Kildare
Rules regarding withdrawal of Newbridge Town in Kildare

The KDUL wish to clarify the situation in Newbridge with regard to the transfer of players as there seems to be confusion regarding this situation.

The following is the position in relation to the agreement between Newbridge Town and KDUL, and with regard to current SFAI and FAI rules:

  • Newbridge Town will play their final games in the KDUL on Saturday 3rd December 2016 and will then withdraw all teams from the League
  • All Newbridge Town players then become the property of the League
  • Newbridge Town must notify the League by 15th December 2016 of all players who have decided to go to Dublin
  • Any player who decides to play in Dublin cannot return to play in Kildare League until July 2017 which is the next transfer window
  • Individual players wishing to remain playing soccer in Kildare will be facilitated – the league will allow players to play for other clubs in Kildare
  • Teams wishing to remain playing soccer in Kildare will be facilitated
  • A new club Newbridge United has been formed and players can move to this club – teams who, up to 3rd December 2016, played as Newbridge Town but now wish to remain in Kildare can continue to play out their league in Kildare
  • NO PLAYER WILL BE PREVENTED FROM CONTINUING TO PLAY SOCCER IN KILDARE

Newbridge United have notified the League that they will enter Under 8 and Under 9 teams into the League in the new year so any parents in Newbridge wishing to enrol should contact newbridgeunitedfc@gmail.com or contact the League and we will put you in touch.

The Kildare & District Underage League would like to express our thanks to the new committee of Newbridge United who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to put this Club together and are now the second largest club in the League.

Exciting times ahead for Newbridge United and the League who are delighted that Newbridge United will continue a long tradition of soccer in Kildare.
